Why “Project SABR”?
The word “Sabr” (صبر) in Arabic means patience, perseverance, and steadfast faith — a powerful reminder to remain strong and compassionate through life’s challenges.
At Project SABR, this name reflects the heart of our mission:

Neighborhood Food Drive
Providing easier, consistent access to fresh food for low-income families and individuals in our community.
Our Monthly Food Distribution is one of the core programs of Project SABR’s mission to fight hunger with dignity and compassion. Every month, we set up a welcoming, organized distribution where families can pick up essential groceries, produce, and nutritious items—completely free of charge.
This initiative is designed to:
• Support low-income households facing food insecurity or rising living costs
• Ensure families have regular access to healthy, reliable food options
• Relieve financial pressure, allowing individuals to focus resources on rent, bills, and daily necessities
• Serve neighbors with dignity, respect, and a no-questions-asked approach
• Create a consistent lifeline for those who often fall through the cracks of government assistanceBacked by dedicated volunteers and community partners, our distribution serves hundreds of families each month. From single parents to seniors to working-class households, we aim to make sure no neighbor—regardless of race, background, or belief—is left without the food they need.
Through this program, we strive to build a stronger, healthier, and more connected Los Angeles where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

Weekly Homeless Food Drives
Every Friday at 10:00 PM, Project SABR volunteers come together to head into Skid Row and serve our unhoused neighbors with dignity, warmth, and compassion.
During our Friday Night Outreach, we:
Distribute warm meals to those sleeping on the streets
Provide hygiene kits with essentials like soap, toothbrushes, wipes, and more
Hand out blankets to offer comfort and protection against the cold
Check in on people through conversation, kindness, and human connection
This is more than a food drop—it’s about showing up consistently, reminding people they are seen, valued, and not forgotten.

Islamic Burial Assistance Program
Project SABR is committed to supporting families across Southern California who are unable to afford the costs of an appropriate Islamic burial for their loved ones.
Losing a family member is already heartbreaking—no one should face the added stress of financial hardship during such a sacred and emotional time. Our Burial Assistance Program helps ensure that every Muslim, regardless of financial situation, is laid to rest with dignity, respect, and in accordance with Islamic tradition.
Through this initiative, we:
Provide financial assistance for families struggling with burial expenses
Help coordinate proper Islamic burial services and essentials
Offer compassionate guidance to families navigating a difficult and overwhelming process
Work with trusted funeral homes and community partners to ensure each burial is handled with care
Our goal is simple: to stand with families in their moment of need and ensure that no Muslim is denied a dignified burial due to financial limitations.
